Welcome to Parmer County Museum, a non-profit supporting the history of Parmer County.
The Parmer County Museum is dedicated to collecting the record of life. History is the factual record of people and the events which influenced their lives. The museum's purpose is to present Parmer County, its origin, and its status at the beginning of 1876.

About
The Parmer County Museum began as the “First Church in Friona,” dedicated on May 23, 1909. It was a wooden structure that served the community for 12 years. Unfortunately, that structure was struck by lightning and burned in 1921. Later that year, a new adobe chapel was completed.

Bovina, TX
Bovina is on U.S. Highway 60 between two forks of Running Water Draw in western Parmer County. Originally the community was the Hay Hook Line Camp of the XIT Ranch, and the ranch headquarters was one of the county's earliest buildings.

Farwell, TX
Farwell is the county seat of Parmer County. The town was named after the brothers Charles B. and John V. Farwell. The Farwell brothers were two men who helped transform the cow country of the old west into a country of small farms. The town of Farwell was surveyed in 1905.

Friona, TX
Friona was originally known as Frio when it was established in 1898 by the Capitol Freehold Land and Investment Company as a shipping station on the Pecos Valley and Northern Texas Railway. In 1906 the name was altered to Friona when the post office was established in March 1907, with Sarah D. Olson as postmistress.

Lazbuddie, TX
Lazbuddie had its beginning in 1902 when Thomas Kelly purchased the Red Tower Camp of the XIT Ranch, comprising 55,136 acres. He named his new prospect the Star Ranch, on which directions and locations were given according to the names of thirty windmills scattered over the vast acreage.
